PHOTOGRAPHER'S PROFILE

TSUNEO NAKAMURA ( Tokyo, JAPAN )
Since 1973 marine photographer TSUNEO NAKAMURA has spent nearly half a year every year pursuing his only subject, the ocean.
The quality of his work as marine photographer is supported by a worldwide information network which keeps him aware of significant oceanographic events.
Mr. Nakamura was born in Tokyo in 1949. His career as a professional photographer began while enrolled at Waseda University's Dock and Harbor Laboratory. There, he earned his undergraduate degree and Masters degree in coastal engineering and oceanography.
Utilizing his knowledge as a marine engineer, Mr. Nakamura has designed special camera equipment for use in underwater, low-temperature, and high risk photography.
Volvox Incorporated, which is now the largest marine photographic production agency in Japan, was founded by Mr. Nakamura in 1974.
It handles more than 400,000 of his photographs.
